Subspecialty treats women's silent problem -- Internet Source

This embarrassing little problem is called urinary incontinence and a lot of women are suffering in silence because of it. More than 13 million Americans have incontinence, and women are twice as likely to have it as men. And if you think the problem affects only older women, think again: About 30 percent of younger women have reported symptoms. Urogynecology is a relatively new subspecialty that focuses on treating women with pelvic floor disorders. These physicians typically complete a residency in urology or obstetrics/gynecology, then pursue additional study in the evaluation and treatment of conditions that affect the female pelvic organs and the muscles and connective tissues that support the organs.
