Caring for Babies

A special message to new parents

This can be a very stressful time for parenting couples. It's almost impossible to find time, much less energy, for each other between the seemingly constant demands of the baby, the needs of other children, household chores and the father's work schedule.

Colic

Does your infant have a regular fussy period each day when it seems you can do nothing to comfort her? This is quite common, particularly between 6:00 p.m. and midnight, just when you, too, are feeling tired from the day's trials and tribulations.

Breastfeeding your baby
One of the most special times in a mother's life is when she is breastfeeding her baby. Experts agree that breastfeeding is best. Benefits Breast milk is nature's perfect baby food. Your milk has just the right nutrients, in just the right amounts, to nourish your baby fully.

Crying and Your Infant
Crying serves several useful purposes for your baby. It gives him a way to call for help when he's hungry or uncomfortable. It helps him shut out sights, sounds and other sensations that are too intense to suit him. And it helps him release tension.

Ear Infections

The ear has three main parts: the outer ear, middle ear, and inner ear. A tiny tube, called the eustachian tube, connects the middle ear to the back of the throat and nose. When a child has a cold, nose or throat infection, or allergy, the eustachian tube can become blocked, causing a buildup of fluid in the middle ear.
